Sudbury Wedding Photographer Wedding Photo in the rain

Sudbury Wedding Photographer

I love being a Sudbury Wedding Photographer! It’s such a beautiful little corner of Suffolk and has a surprising number of lovely wedding venues in and around the area. Sadly Moreves Barn where Natalie and Christian were married is no longer one of them but I thought I’d share their wedding anyway as it was a really fun day. Natalie kindly took the time to share their wedding story with me. Read all about it below as you browse through a few of the photos I took of their beautiful day.

Moreves Barn

How did you guys meet?
We met at sixth form (over 12 years ago!)

Tell me a bit about yourselves
I’m a primary school teacher and Chris is a business analyst for a toy company. We both work full time and ensure that we share housework responsibilities. We enjoy watching films together and eating out. We have grown up together over the years and enjoy taking on new challenges, particularly DIY and have worked together to completely renovate our home. We have 2 house cats called Archie and Roo, (Chris never wanted cats but we compromised and now have 2.)

How did the proposal go down?
Chris proposed to me at a beautiful manor house in Stratford-Upon-Avon. It was such a lovely setting and very romantic. After being together for 8 years and Chris never hinting at wanting to get married, I was not expecting a proposal at all so this was the most wonderful surprise. It was very emotional and the perfect proposal with a stunning engagement ring. I of course accepted this with an “Oh my god yes!”.

How did you choose your wedding venue?
We searched online for local barn venues. We had decided after attending a few weddings that we definitely wanted a barn wedding and being on the border of Essex and Suffolk meant that we had plenty to choose from. We visited a few before we finally found Moreves Barn. As soon as we walked into Moreves we knew it was the venue for us. We loved the layout and it was important to us that we could have the ceremony in the same place as the reception and that no tables had to be moved to allow this to happen. As we walked around Moreves it just felt right and we could imagine our wedding day being there.

What sort of experience did you want your guests to have?
We wanted our wedding to be relaxed and just a celebration of our commitment to each other. We wanted our guests to have plenty of delicious food and drink and a great band to dance to.

Can you describe some of the details and stylings, did your wedding have a theme?
I would describe our wedding theme as rustic. We had our wedding in a barn so all the decorations were designed to compliment this. We had hydrangea centre pieces in mason jars on wood slices. Our tables were named after the flowers that featured in our wedding and I hand painted these onto the table names. We also had bunting in different pastel shades hanging both inside and outside the venue.

What was your best decision during the wedding planning?
We made so many great decisions, it’s hard to choose. The venue was definitely one of our best decisions as this was just perfect for us. The amazing photographer, who blended into the crowd and captured the emotions from the day. The photobooth that was part of our photography package was great at getting people laughing and having fun. The band as they got everyone up on the dance floor and played brilliantly the whole evening. Getting my dress and bridesmaid dresses from The Tailor’s Cat as we were given plenty of choice, could make some changes to my dress (add cap sleeves) and we were all so happy with our dresses and they fitted perfectly.

What was the hardest decision?
Again this is a tricky one as lots of decisions were hard to make at the time. One of the hardest was choosing the words for our ceremony, we didn’t make our own vows but we hadn’t realised that you have to choose how the ceremony goes from a selection of different wordings. Another tricky decision was who to invite to our wedding for the day and who to invite for the evening.

What were your favourite memories of the day?
Definitely our favourite memories are from the evening when we could relax and just enjoy dancing and partying with our guests. We also loved going out for our evening photos and we will always remember watching poor Winston lying on the grass in the rain to get a perfect picture!

What advice would you have for any couples planning their wedding?
We would like to say to others planning a wedding that you need to remember that this is your day so make sure that you are choosing things that suit you. Try not to stress over the little things, especially things beyond your control, and know that everything will come together on the day. Don’t try to please everyone as you won’t be able to. Remember on the day to stay calm and most of all to enjoy your day.
