Hackney Town Hall Wedding Photographer

I was really excited to be Megan and Owen’s Hackney Town Hall Wedding Photographer not least because Hackney Town Hall is a brilliant London wedding venue, but also because I’d got to know Megan and Owen a bit from seeing them at their friend’s weddings (e.g Chris & Cathy at The Asylum Chapel). They’re lovely, kind, generous pair so I knew we were in a treat for their wedding.

Hackney Town Hall

I feel it’s important to note that Hackney Town Hall is not your average Town Hall! The North and South Atria rooms which Megan and Owen used have tons of gorgeous natural light. They’re airy, modern and have loads of space. Unlike a lot of London wedding venues, Hackney Town Hall also benefits from potentially being both a ceremony and reception venue. This makes the logistics of planning a wedding much easier! I’d definitely recommend checking it out The Atria rooms if you like the idea of a bright, clean, cool space with minimal wedmin (wedding admin).

It’s also important to ensure you have great evening entertainment to really fill the space in the evening and bring the energy as there are no cosy corners for guests to hide in. Which is perhaps a good thing!

Marie from Easy Gourmet was a wedding planner at this wedding and put her heart and soul into making sure everything ran smoothly. I’d also highly recommend her and their gorgeous food!

My Wedding Photography Style

My main aim as a Hackney Town Hall Wedding Photographer is to capture all the emotions from your wedding as it happens so that you can re-live your special day again and again and feel all those feelings again. I’m smiley and super friendly which will help you and your guests feel completely at ease with me capturing your day. I also love to capture your epic party which is really fun to do at a place like Hackney Town Hall!

Megan and Owen

When I saw “Jewish Dancing and Mojitos” on their timetable I knew this was going to be a fun wedding! Megan has Jewish heritage so it was lovely to see her bring some traditions to their wedding, namely the dancing which was brilliant! Owen also has some Irish heritage and had some family over from my favouite place in Ireland, Clonakilty. I don’t like to stereotype too much but I think I’ll be forgiven for saying that both Jewish and Irish people know how to party! The drinks flowed and the dance floor was full all night.

Megan and Owen were kind enough to answer a few questions about themselves and their wedding day. See below to hear all about it.

How did you guys meet?
Owen likes to say I ordered him online and the only reason I didn’t return him because returning online orders is a faff.

Tell me a bit about yourselves?
I read, Owen cycles and we live very happily with our seven-month-old cockapoo puppy, Simba.

How did the proposal go down?
Owen proposed on a weekend away in Ireland with his family at the Beacon in Baltimore. It was a beautiful day.

How did you choose your wedding venue?
We got married in the twin Atria rooms at Hackney Town Hall. We both grew up not far from the area and Owen’s parents got married there some thirty-something years ago, so It was a venue with lots of history and local relevance to us.

What sort of experience did you want your guests to have?
The only thing that mattered is that people had fun.

Can you describe some of the details and stylings, did your wedding have a theme?
We had no theme or much formality really. Owen looked very dashing in his blue suit (he said he might turn up in shorts) and I wore a ‘dress-less’ dress from House of Ollichon.

What was your best decision during the wedding planning?
Getting Marie from Easy Gourmet to cater the wedding and act as a wedding planner. We couldn’t have done it without her!

What was the hardest decision?
The guestlist and the size of the wedding.

What were your favourite memories of the day?
I will never forget walking in with my Dad and seeing Owen’s face when he turned around.
