A Hidden Gem Near Colchester
Although just a short drive from Colchester, East Mersea Hall feels like a world away. Nestled on Mersea Island, this historic venue offers a calm and secluded atmosphere that makes it the perfect escape for a romantic celebration. The beautiful lake at the heart of the venue creates a tranquil setting, and the surrounding countryside gives a true sense of peace and privacy. It’s a photographer’s dream, especially during golden hour when the soft light dances across the fields and water.

A Radiant Couple – Roxi & Dan
Roxi and Dan are genuinely two of the loveliest people you could ever meet. From the moment I arrived, their warmth and excitement were contagious. Dan and his groomsmen looked incredibly sharp in classic black tie – effortlessly elegant. Roxi was simply stunning, her radiant smile lighting up the entire day. You could feel their love not just for each other, but also for every single guest. They were beaming all day long, and their joy was infectious.

An Intimate Outdoor Ceremony in the Walled Garden
The couple chose to say their vows in East Mersea Hall’s gorgeous walled garden. This secluded spot is full of character and charm, and on their wedding day, it was filled with emotion and happiness. It was the perfect setting for such a heartfelt ceremony. After the “I dos,” guests spilled out into the gardens for a relaxed drinks reception by the lake.

Golden Hour, Rowboats & Rolling Fields
One of my favourite moments of the day was when Roxi and Dan took a little trip out on the lake in the venue’s charming rowing boat. It was a playful and romantic escape for just the two of them — and made for some absolutely magical photos. Later, we wandered into the surrounding fields during golden hour, capturing some truly breathtaking images of the newlyweds bathed in soft, golden light.

A Relaxed Evening in the Barn
The celebrations continued in the venue’s characterful barn, where guests enjoyed a delicious meal, heartfelt speeches, and plenty of laughter. Even in the evening, East Mersea Hall’s thoughtful layout allowed guests to enjoy the stunning outdoor spaces. With seating areas overlooking the lake and beautiful garden views, it’s a venue that encourages guests to relax, explore, and enjoy every moment.
